Cycling commute in and home.

Event: QOC Bowie

Note

QOC Bowie and Rosaryville? Both unlikely unless I rent a car for the day. But not quite impossible.

Orienteering race 52:41 [4] 6.4 km (8:14 / km)

QOC Bowie Red - let others lead me astray too soon into the woods on the first control but otherwise navigated about as competently as was to be expected given I was the last person before Misha Matveev to set courses on the map. Bags were generally hung pretty high so absolute precision wasn't necessarily necessary.

Hiking 2:02:00 [1]

Another fairly productive session at Rosaryville. Now I just have to get it all drawn in OCAD before next weekend.

Note

Rosaryville - I'll Snowgaine some other year.

Cycling 1:21:00 [3]

Cycling round trip to Rosaryville. Almost ideal conditions - strong tailwind going there in the morning that almost entirely died down by early evening.

Hiking 3:05:00 [1]

Productive day mapping in Rosaryville. Unprecedentedly, encounted a racoon walking through the forest in the daylight. Friend racoon didn't seem to be moving very well though it was hard to tell if there was an actual limp or just a slight lack of vigour and/or coordination - maybe it was the wandering home after a racoon bender. I got within just over a meter of it as it started to climb a tree and, surprisingly, it didn't high tail it out of reach but just stayed there clinging to the tree and watching me once efforts to keep the trunk between us failed. After a few seconds, I decided I'd added enough stress to its life and continued with the mapping.

Cycling 57:00 [3]

Work commute in. Either my cellphone and my watch both have a leap year bug or my subconscious will stop at nothing to stop me getting up early to exercise. I suppose I need the rest before this weekend in any case. Directly home in the evening.

Cycling 1:05:00 [3]

Work commute including visit to PCRM in the evening. Not sure my right hip is quite up to all normal activities yet but it feels close enough to take the injury flag off.

Cycling 1:03:00 [3]
(injured)

Cycling to work after yet another failure to get to the pool early in the morning. Perhaps just as well since my right hip feels almost but not quite normal again - another day before testing it with anything beyond cycling might be a good thing. Home by way of TPSS to stock up on granola while their February specials were still in effect.

Cycling 57:00 [3]
(injured)

Cycling to work through sprinkling rain. Straight home again for another evening of communing with OCAD - it's slow going drawing vegetation. I can't help wondering whether Rosaryville would have taken longer to field check if it was all fields and white to light green woods. I would have had to cover all the areas that are currently impenetrable vegetation but covering them would have gone relatively quickly. And the OCAD drafting would definitely have taken less time.
