Cycling 1:20:00 [3]

Home to Greenbelt and back by way of REI and food shopping at Takoma Park Silver Spring Co-op.

Orienteering 1:01:46 [4] 8.5 km (7:16 / km) +245m 6:21 / km

Greenbelt Motala Blue - Nadim set two similar loops around the northern half of the park with pairs of orienteers of similar ability starting together and doing the loops in the opposite order one from the other. Fun. Ran hard and well through a great deal of nasty stuff, some of which I should have avoided by running on a road like Eddie did. Overran a vague attack point for one control and had to relocate on the trail forty or fifty meters past it.

Orienteering 30:00 [2]

Pickup of eight bags.

Modern Dance 1:25:00 [2]

Another new teacher subbing for Deborah - Helen something.

Form exercises 36:00 [3]

Warmup/cooldown, bum kicks, A's, B's and 6x100m strides. Mostly to loosen up before O race on Sunday and remind my body what running fast feels like.

Cycling 1:06:00 [3] 13.0 mi (5:05 / mi)

Running 18:00 [3]

From work to pick up my bike.

Cycling 38:00 [3]

Grocery shopping on a bike whose rear wheel doesn't flex alarmingly under load - very pleasant.

Running 1:18:09 [3]

Total of all my running in Ottawa in the morning and a food shopping expedition after returning to DC.

Speed skating 30:12 [3]

Last canal round trip of the visit. Jumped off the ice at the downtown end and got a couple of Canadian standard passport photos taken, the better to ensure I can actually go to my planned/hoped for international events this year.

Tuesday Jan 4, 2005 #

Running 52:33 [3]

Speed skating 34:08 [3] 15.0 km (2:17 / km)

On the canal again - ran into Bill Anderson (among other things, mapper for the most recent Quebec Champs).

Running 9:39 [4]

Home to the Carleton U. Athletic Center.

Swimming 45:00 [3] 1.6 km (28:07 / km)

I have so not been doing triathlons since I moved to DC let along got serious about orienteering - apparently this is the first time I've logged swimming since I registered on AttackPoint. Mixture of crawl, breast stroke, flutter kick with a board and just playing in the water. Distance not certified as precise.

Running 40:00 [3]

Running around foraging for cookies and sultana raisins that aren't too dried and tough to be worth bringing back to DC.
