The race started at 4:00 am. and right off the start my legs felt heavy, I had no power and I felt lethargic. I knew that I was going to be in for a difficult race. I was dropping positions early into the race! I passed the 4.13 km. checkpoint in 18:52, which was respectable given how I was feeling. I crossed over the Mun River again and then I took a gel at the 8 km. mark, which seemed to help a little. I continued along, as I felt my pace dropping off. I passed the 14.1 km. mark in 1:13:59. Just after the 15 km. mark I really started to feel worse and I was struggling big time. I took another gel at the 16 km. mark and I picked-up my pace. I crossed the line in 79/446 place in the 30-39 year old age group and 209/1,537 overall. Very bad time, my worst half marathon road race time ever.
