Warm-up.

Running 2:14:07 [5] 21.1 km (6:21 / km) +390m 5:49 / km

The race started at 6:00 am. and the mass of runners made their way towards the "mountain". The first part of the course was quite easy for a trail race, mainly consisting of road and dirt trail running. The course was changed slightly from about 3.3 km. to 5.3 km. compared to the course in 2017. Then the climb started up the mountain and I managed to hold my own. There also an aid station (CP #1) at 9.6 km. where took a gel. I was feeling good and quite strong! I was relieved to get to the top of the mountain just before the 10 km. mark. Then I descended the mountain quickly on a single track path, onto a dirt road to the u-turn point just past the 13 km. mark and an aid station (CP #2) where I filled-up my Camelbak. Then I had to climb the same mountain again and when I got to the top I could see all the way to the Gulf of Thailand and Pattaya city (around 14 km. away!) ! This was followed by a quick and steep downhill section between the 15 and 16 km. marks, where I passed a few runners. I took another gel just past the 16 km. mark and pushed to the finish line on the relatively flat dirt trails and roads the rest of the way. I placed 17/659 overall and 16/659 in the Male Open category.
