Hockey 5:00 [2]

Warm-up.

Hockey Game 20:00 [5]

Opening night of the Thai World Hockey League (TWHL) at The Rink located in the Central Rama 9 Shopping Centre in downtown Bangkok. I got some strange looks as I made the long treck to the rink. A foreigner carrying a "Team Canada" hockey bag and two hockey sticks when it is +30 outside! I arrived at the rink around 8:15 pm. with plenty of time to spare. The first game was delayed for about 25 minutes, so I had some time to relax and watch the first game. There were some good players and some ok players. Later it was time for my team, the Krung Thep Cobras to take to the ice vs. the D Pelican Inn Flyers. I was not really sure what to expect, since I had not shot a puck on ice in 1 year!!! My line was named to the starting line-up. Right off the bat we developed some chemistry. We are a fast hard working line made up of two Canucks and a Thai. Then we struck, I got a rebound goal, followed by two goals on the next shift, thanks to some good passing and speed. It is amazing how fast hockey comes back when it is in your blood. We posted our first win of the season on opening night, a 8-4 victory. Our line pretty much shut down the top ranked Thai player in the country! I got a hat trick in the 1st period and added two assists for 5 points and a +3 rating. Could not ask for a better start to the hockey season in tropical Thailand!!!
