Warm-up.

Running race 47:19 [5] 10.75 km (4:24 / km) +190m 4:03 / km
shoes: Asics Gel-Speedstar 6 2012

I was feeling a little groggy leading up to the race probably due to sleeping on the bus the night before and napping during the day. It was odd going to a race at night time for a 9:00 pm. start, as opposed to the normal 6:00 am. start time of many running races in Thailand. I wanted to take small strides with high turn over for the first half of the race (all uphill) and then go hard downhill for the last half of the course. I started the race out at a comfortable pace, as I did not want to struggle later on in the race with burning legs. After everyone settled in after the 1 km. mark I was sitting in around 10th place overall. I was feeling quite good and I was maintaining my position, except for a few people that passed me. I hit the turn around point in 26:48. Then a really started to move going downhill as I passed a few people and one guy that was flying passed me. I crossed the line in 7th/62 in the 16-29 age group and 11th/293 overall. I was a little surprised to place 11th overall as I counted the people in front of me at the turn around point. At that time I counted that I was in 9th overall, I passed 2 people, so that would put me in 7th overall and 1 person passed me, so I would have been in 9th overall. I am not sure what happened.

Split 1: 26:48
