I woke up at 3:00 am. and I made my way down to Chatuchak Park. The race started at 6:00 am. with a mass of runners (not lined up properly) sprinting down a narrow path in the park that was not made for that many people. I separated myself from the masses quite quickly and I was free to run unimpeded. I felt great throughout, but I wish I would have known that the course was short, so I could have given a final kick earlier on. Another short course. Placed 11/500?

At the start at 6:00 am. it was interesting to see no Kenyans in sight. I remember thinking to myself about 400 m. into the race that there are no Kenyans. Then not 10 seconds later a pack of them go blowing by everyone. 3 of them went on to place 1st, 2rd and 4th overall. I Guess the 400 meter start did not work for everyone Ok race, died a little in the last 3 km., where 3 people passed me. Same tpk as my first two races in Thailand. Short course again. Placed about 20-30th overall I would say.

The Amazing Race (Chatachuk Edition). A total of 8 teams from the school competed in the race. The race was exactly like the race seen on T.V. except on a smaller scale. The clues and tasks were just as difficult as the real show. They included finding certain t-shirt styles, finding a large bag and going inside of it and finding a frozen chocolate dipped banana stand. Deciphering what a list of Thai words meant and going to the stall with these things (ornamental fruit). Detour- "dress up" or "dress down" our team chose to "dress up" and then we found out that we had to wear make-up. Eating dried fish and turning our tongues purple. Road Block- drawing a picture of an artist, eating coconut ice cream as fast as possible, finging a cowboy, finding a specific tea performer and having him perform while one team member commentates a T.V. commercial, performing songs at a stall with instruments, writing a postcard and finding an accessory to match our team colour (blue). Then finally I had to solve a charades puzzle given to me by my partner. Everything had to be documented with a camera/video to confirm that the task was completed. Quite difficult race due to the language barrier and trying to find specific things in the largest market in Asia! Good times! Placed 4th of 8 teams.

The River Kwai Half Marathon was celebrating its 30th running with a “special” 30 km. road race, in addition to the half marathon and a 10 km. race. What an epic journey traveling to The River Kwai River Resort on Highway #223, north of Kanchanaburi, Thailand for the oldest running race in Thailand. With the five bus connections the journey took around 6 hours to go 175 km mainly due to bad traffic and a huge car accident on the highway. I got up at 4:00 am. on the day of the race to make to 5:30 am. start. I was one of the craziest 1.5 km. journeys to the start I have ever experienced. It started with the guesthouse worker offering to take me on his moped to the start (so I thought). It was not a simple drive down Portage Avenue. It was a drive through the jungle, pitch black out on a bumpy and narrow dirt road. Due to the language barrier issues I thought he was taking me right to the start...but no he was not. At one point he stopped and said "ok" and pointed down a road with huge puddles where you could not see your hand in front of your face. Luckily I had asked to borrow his light (after originally wandering down a road to find the guesthouse with the use of my Ipod the night before). I followed the sound of the music and made it to the start. The first 6 km. in the pitch black was different because you could not tell who was in front of you. I was not feeling 100% at the start after suffering from some bowel issues since Wednesday and some stomach discomfort. Around km. 7 I took a gel and I felt worse. Subsequently km.'s 8-9 were rough. Then around km. 12 I started to feel a little better and was holding my 10th position. Around km. 13 I hit some really thick fog which was a cool feeling. When I got to the turnaround point at 15 km. I knew that there was more downhill than uphill left, which was a good feeling. In the last half I tried to hold my position, but 4 people passed me. I finished in 14/408 overall and 8/55 in the 16-39 age category.
