My Second time running the Singha Songkran Night Run (the last time I ran was in 2015). Still a little sore from the Rome Marathon 5 days before and from walking around all day soaking wet from the Songkran "waterfight". It was difficult to get to the start on time with all the traffic caused from Songkran. I arrived at the start area at 7:30 pm. and I got my race kit, so I had no time for a real warm-up (although I walked a lot to get to the start). The horns went off at 8:10 pm. and the mass of lights began the assent up Doi Suthep mountain on the outskirts of Chiang Mai, Thailand. I took the first part of the race quite slow, as I did not rubber legs before I got to the halfway point. I focused on quick leg turnover, as I picked off half marathon runners that started 10 minutes earlier. It was a relief to reach the halfway point, as I knew it was all downhill to the finish. I coasted downhill to pass 3 people and I was passed by 1 person. I crossed the line in 9th overall out of 1,191 runners and 2/292 in the 30-39 age group. I got a trophy!
