Middle at Armo park, frozen pig. Sigh. Just terrible. Veg was nasty thick, and though I toughed out the first few, completely lost it mid way through. Completely going in circles for chris'sake. I literally looked at my compass, lined up, took a few steps and found i was 90 degrees off. I have no idea what happened.

Running warm up/down 8:00 [3]

Ocin Frozen Pig Relay champs, Camp Friedlander. 35 and drizzly, hard to stay warm waiting to run the 3rd leg. kathy Jo came in way earlier than expected and I had to strip down to race clothes from my 4 layers of warmth in a big hurry, was still late for the handoff, and without gloves and hat. Dropped by clothing on way out, grabbed gear, and over the 200m road run to the first control tried to put glove and hat on, get compass, stick on, and didn't even look at the map. Discovered strap on thumbcompass came loose, so had to just hold it in place the whole run. Navigated alone and reasonably well to control 6 or so, but by then the glasses started to get wet and foggy (continued rest of course), and i got passed by Nadim and someone from CSU (?). Tried to stick with them, not too well - couldn't read well. Even with Minnesota guy for long leg, at last minute decided to go left around the lake (cost a little time in indecision) while he went right. And we met up at the next control at the same time. I followed him most of the rest of the way, each time i made a decision slowly i found myself following him again. Lost him on the last control somehow and ran very hard from go (a snicker's premium was on the line with dave!). Enjoyable despite that. Dave ran strong and we took 3rd, which became 2nd when QOC mispunched.

Frozen Pig Night O champs, Green. 25F, some snow, snow on ground but nothing much melted except stream crossings. Ran pretty clean and well - lost perhaps 5 minutes to errors, but given night-o i'm pretty happy to have no major errors and nothing i couldn't recover from. Loads of fun in general, and especially seeing so many lights in the valleys and on the hills
