Note
(rest day)

Nasty icy rain this am, and i am a little sore today (mostly inner thigh/groin). But while walking from car to office felt tiny bits of the hip problem i developed last year at this time. I think this is the result of trying to aggressively xc yesterday, with a stronger extension. I will back off until that is better, stretch etc. as i did then. sigh. I may be forced to no longer try to ski fast.
Later that day: i have set my work area up temporarily as a standing desk, hoping that will help ankle problems and everything else. So far so good. I kind of like the setup.

XC ski 1:04:00 [3]
rhr:46 slept:7.0 weight:188lbs shoes: Salomon Escape 7 Pilot

Beaver marsh north past szalays to bridge after mile 26. Good glide on minimal coverage. Rain expected tonight, so this is the end for a while. Pushed one of the miles, decent effort the rest. Felt pretty good, though right elbow acted up a little. Minor ankle lock this evening. I forgot to wear my ankle brace yesterday and today.

XC ski 1:02:00 intensity: (31:00 @2) + (31:00 @3)
slept:8.0 shoes: Salomon Escape 7 Pilot

After judging science fair, at waterworks part. Good area when snow is minimal. No real problems, but just barely enough coverage. Bike/Hike to 91, and around in the woods. Overcast, 20s, nice day. New skis are great!

Running 35:30 [3]
rhr:46 slept:7.0 weight:188lbs shoes: (Screw) Brooks Adrenaline GTS

Busy all day, couldn't ride because of new and threatening snow and cold (8ish), had too much to carry for a run. After supper, with headlamp, ran in 3" fresh slippery snow around neighborhood. Pleasant.

Stationary Bike (rollers) 38:00 [2]
slept:7.0

Busy day, had to ride rollers. It is so hard to deal with the boredom, which makes my muscles tired, which makes me want to stop. I work twice as hard to ride half as slow and half as long as on the road. ugh.
So sad - my chest muscles are sore from two sets of 20 pushups yesterday. Time to get back on that.
And yesterday i had to cut the situps short - could still feel a little residual from the rib problem.

Then this evening about 8 I suddenly got a left ankle pain (the lockup). I noticed earlier today that I have resumed ankle twirling my ankles. Ugh.
Possible causes in what I think s their order of importance:
-ankle twiddling while sitting at my desk
-one legged ankle lifts /squats at gym yesterday
-roller riding with some minor ankling today

I think the first and second worked together to cause this. The ankle was back to normal when i went to bed (but wasn't good for walking up to bed). At 3AM walking was fine. Although my exercise career flashed before my eyes and got me up at 3AM, i think this is more of a reminder that i need to pay attention to how i sit at my desk - no ankle crossing on the floor under me (dangling my loose ankle joint), no twiddling.

Stationary Bike 7:30 [2]
slept:7.0

It was around 5F this morning, and had to go to the dermatologist, so tried to exercise at the school gym this AM. After a few minutes on the stationary bike i was told that they no longer open that area at noon (budget cuts). Did some core etc. in the downstairs hall, but that wasn't a good spot, so i decided to try swimming. As I put my toe in the water i was told that only the lifeguard class (3 people doing laps!?) could use the olympic pool. Complained bitterly to various and sundry, but they only open those areas 4-8pm now, so i will have to find other ways to be active. Shame - the noontime exercise during the coldest of the year was a nice thing to do, back when we had actual winter.
