Orienteering race 5:56:00 [4] 25.4 mi (14:01 / mi) +623m 13:01 / mi

Well that didn’t work. My plan was essentially the same as Mark’s except I was going to drop almost all of the 10 and 20 pointers. For the most part it worked. Skipping 115 was bad since it turned into a 40 pointer with its daughter control. Mark slowly worked past me after 2 hours. Other than the painful climb and unmapped green the east map and the lake was easy.

When I reached 133 I started having real issues. At this point I panicked thinking I couldn’t get back in time with the leg cramps. I bailed on 140 about 100m from it and headed back. Looking back I still could have grabbed 147, 140, 145, and 124. I didn’t think I was going to recover so fast.

My panicking dropped me from 3rd to 7th. I think I lacked the fitness to do what I was trying.

Final points 750.
