Skiing, X-C 1:54:00 [3]

The highway finally opened up, and I made it to Laramie this morning. It was a spectacular day at the Jack, and my first foray on skis this winter lasted almost two hours. I felt fine for most of it, but was getting a little wobbly towards the end. My arms might be sore tomorrow.

Yoga (Vinyasa) 55:00 [3]

Another class at my new gym, and I was the only one in the class, so a private yoga session. Nice. Usually, though, I hide in the back of the class so no one sees my limited flexibility. Today, there was no hiding. But the instructor was very nice and patient and helpful. It was a good class.

One thing that is different here from my last gym is that the instructors so far have been 2 young, tattooed, gauged guys. Quite different from what I'm used to. Plus, from what I've seen in my two visits, there aren't too many people my age. I'll have to get used to that.

Note

I was supposed to be on my way to Laramie right about now, but I-80 from Cheyenne to Laramie has been closed since yesterday morning. And, while 287 is open, it didn't look too inviting. So, I'll wait until the morning to see how it all looks. It was incredibly warm (55F) today in Denver, with full-on sunshine. Maybe that will find its way north tomorrow.

Running (C25K) 44:23 intensity: (31:53 @3) + (12:30 @4)

Week 3 #2

This was a little messed up. I started on the trail, but it was just a narrow path in the snow and very choppy, so I hopped to the road, which was packed snow. So, I'm not sure of the distance. Then, when the bossy lady told me when to run and walk, it wasn't matching up to what I was expecting. After the second running piece, I pulled out my phone to look at the session, and somehow I was doing Week 4 #2...doh!

So, I had an extended walk in the middle to catch up on the correct session. A little convoluted, but I got in a tad more running and I was motivated enough to get out on a very, very cold day. Probably wouldn't have happened if I wasn't doing this program.

Strength Training 30:00 [3]

I tried a class at my new gym. I had to quit my old gym because it's south of Denver, and I work north of Denver now, and it just wasn't working out. So, I joined a gym about a mile from my house, which is much more convenient. Plus, it was half the price of the other one. Win-Win.

Note

A day spent mostly indoors while the snow raged outside. We ended up getting about a foot of snow and now it is very, very cold!

Week 3 #1

Such a beautiful day! It snowed yesterday, so the trail was snowy and slippery again, but the sun was shining, and it was about 45F. Another storm is rolling through tomorrow night, so I thought I'd at least know out the first session of week 3 on a nice day.
