Orienteering race 1:22:00 [4] 5.6 km (14:39 / km)

Not a stellar performance, but I had enough of a cushion from Day 1 to hold on to first overall.

Orienteering race 1:15:39 [4] 5.4 km (14:01 / km)

Day 1 US Champs Little Truckee Summit.

I am happy with this result. I hit every control pretty cleanly, but had 2 questionable route choices. The climb was definitely more than advertised, and the woods were junkier than I thought they would be, but with stretches of pure beauty. When I got in, I didn't think I had gone fast enough to do so well, but I guess I did. Now I just have to hold Sharon off for one more day.

Note

Yay! My back is feeling much better today. My massage therapist spend the whole hour just on my back, using hot towels, a cayenne heat rub, and BioFreeze. She was amazed at how tight it was...she said the muscles were spasming as she rubbed them. Ick.

Now just to take it easy today and tomorrow to not reaggravate it, and maybe it will still be a "go" for this weekend.

Note

Nothing for me today as I did something to my back. :-(

I was stretching this morning and reached over to get my glasses off the night stand, and the muscles on both sides of my back just seized up. It was horrible. It was difficult to walk, and there was no way I could twist around. I sat all morning with a heating pad on my back while I worked, and that helped some, but it is still difficult to move.

Luckily, I already had an appointment scheduled with my massage therapist tomorrow, so I called and told her it was going to all about my back! I have never had any issues with my back before, and I hope this is not the beginning of something Charlie-esque!
