Note

After the gym, I went to Robert Clement Park to do some checking around and preliminary mapping for a score-O at RMOC's annual meeting in a few weeks. It was a beautiful day, and the park was packed. I marked down some of the bigger stuff, but I mainly just wanted to get a look to see if it would be good for a score-O, and it will be. Brooke will especially love it since it is overrun with prairie dogs!

As I was walking up one trail, I came to a sign indicating that I was entering the Columbine Memorial and listed the associated rules that come with being in a memorial. I had no idea the park was adjacent to Columbine HS, let alone there was a memorial there. It caught me so off guard that, as I was walking around, reading the plaques, I started tearing up, thinking of the parents on that day...waiting and worrying. It was definitely a unique experience while on a mapping trip. Needless to say, the memorial will be marked OOB.

Running 1:00:00 intensity: (6:00 @2) + (54:00 @3)

I went for a run in Cherry Creek State Park, taking advantage of the warm, sunshiny weather before the storm moves in. Plus, things have been a little crazy at work, so I had a chance to skip out a little early.

After just 2.5 weeks into the job, I've been offered a permanent job at the company (I'm currently there as a contractor) and I'm already going through a major reorganization. The team I'm on is being pulled apart, with half staying with our current VP and half, including my manager, moving to another VP. I was ready to move with my manager when the guy who got me the job, someone I worked with for many years at Verizon, told me that my current VP wants me to work directly for her doing process improvement/assurance. So, I'm just waiting to see what happens. All of the players are coming to the Denver office next week for a few days of meetings, so hopefully I'll know something more at the end of those meetings. Talk about going from the frying pan into the fire!

Note

So excited that the Republicans are now in charge and will shortly solve all of the ills that they attributed to the Dems and Obama...problems at the Department of Veterans Affairs, undocumented children flooding across the border, Islamic State terrorism and fears about Ebola, to name a few.

They seem to think they have the answers and Obama does not, so the world's problems should be solved in short order in the capable hands of the party that gave us Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachmann, Todd Akin, Christine O'Donnell, to name just a few.

Note

No real training today, but spent almost all day in the yard, getting it ready for winter. By the end of the weekend, I had pulled out all of my massive tomato plants, with still many, many green tomatoes on them. I picked some of them to can, but the rest went in the trash. I am pretty much done with tomatoes after several months of them. I've canned them, frozen them, oven-dried them, and made tomato sauce and canned it. I've had tomato salads, tomatoes *in* my salad, tomato sandwiches, tomato sauce, pizza sauce...I'm over tomatoes for this year. My last harvest...on Nov. 1!

I also raked up the leaves (although more are coming down), cleaned the gutters, planted the last 20 daffodil and some other kind of blue flower bulbs, trimmed up some ugly plants, and disposed of all Halloween pumpkins. Time for Fall!
