Note

Look what I found at Mom's house. Who can name the most people in this photo and identify the event and year?

Running 57:00 intensity: (20:00 @2) + (37:00 @3)

A run on the C&O Canal, which quickly reminded me of what it's like to run in hazy hot humidity. I was dripping wet within 10 minutes. I was also busy pulling spider web strands off of my face. Can't say that I really miss the summers in the East.

Cycling (Trainer) 20:00 [3]

A short ride at the Shepherd University gym with Don.

Strength Training 20:00 [2]

Some of my old PT exercises on the machines.

Note

Flew back east today. Mom had her surgery Tuesday, and everything went well. Don and I will bring her home tomorrow morning, and she'll start down the road to recovery.

Orienteering 1:17:00 [3] 6.7 km (11:30 / km)

Ran Daze 5 at East Pelican Bay. Mikell started ahead of me and made sure steamers were still at each control. He ran the Long course twice, and I ran it once.

I found #2 much better than during Laramie Daze, but pretty sloppy orienteering for the most part on many other controls. Have to tighten things up before the US Champs.

Orienteering 1:10:36 [3] 6.7 km (10:32 / km)

I opted out of going orienteering this morning when Mikell was going up to meet Graham for some training at Remarkable Flats. The weather was just too cold, wet, and nasty. So, I stayed home and had a nice breakfast, read the paper, and drank lots of coffee. Then I headed to Safeway to get some blueberries to make blueberry muffins...a special treat for SF when he got home.

Later in the day, the rain stopped and the sun came out, so I decided to go up for some orienteering, after all. Mikell had created a course for me at Remarkable Flats, so I did that one. I got pretty off my bearing going to #2, but finally figured it out when I saw a fence. After that, things went well, but it was very, very windy, so once I turned in the middle of the course and headed back, it was straight into the wind. Yuck!

My butt muscle started hurting again.
