I went to Round Mt. today with Don and Mom to vet Day 1 controls. The courses were pretty good, just a few tweaks needed. It will be a little tricky. Don't get fooled into believing Round Mt. is just open, mindless running.
I went to a training session this morning for volunteering at a new Butterfly Pavilion at the Botanic Gardens at Chatfield, and decided to head over to Chatfield State Park afterwards to run the Red course from last weekend. After I checked out the level and swiftness of the river, however, I decided to just go for a trail run since the Red course had numerous river crossings...like 9 of them.
This run didn't go quite as well as I had hoped, but only because of the weather. It was mid-day, with temps in the low 80s, and I just wasn't acclimated to that heat. I had to throw in a few more walking sessions than I would have liked, but hey...I got it done.
