Hiking 1:07:00 [2]

I made a trip to Camp Alexander, site of one day of the 2014 US Champs, with the first part of the map that is finished. It was another beautiful day…hiking around the map in short sleeves! Here are some pics of the terrain.

The view from the road on the way into the camp:

Then I went over to Round Mt., site of the other day of the 2014 US Champs, for a little trail run. Sadly, my phone camera died, so there are no pictures of Round Mt. I'll take some next time, but believe me…it was BEEYOOTIFUL!

Cycling 54:00 [3] 12.2 mi (13.6 mph)

Another late autumn ride in shorts and short sleeved jersey. I think it hit 70˚ today. But, it just gets colder from here, with some possible snow this weekend.

I felt pretty slow and lethargic. Not sure what was up with that, but I also had to turn around a little early due to some intestinal distress. Thought it would be a good idea to head home. Maybe the blah feeling was tied to that.

Note

Today was a rest day, so I decided to take Annie to a new dog park. I've been working with her on being better at walking off leash (only in appropriate places, Cristina), but it's difficult to find a good place to train without fear of her running away. I had read about a dog park up in Evergreen that was 7 fenced-in acres of woodland. It sounded too good to be true. And…it was fabulous! It was totally like going for a hike in the woods, and I could test Annie on how she would do. And she did great, with a little enticement from treats. She came when called, and she would keep checking on where I was. A few times I hid behind trees to see what she would do. She would back track to where I had last been, and then follow my scent to find me. I would also purposely take trails other than the one she chose, and she would turn to follow me. Eventually, she learned to wait at crossroads to see where I was going. A very successful outing.

Core Conditioning 1:00:00 [3]

Total Body Conditioning class. After last week's class, my biceps were useless and painful for about a day and a half. Let's hope that doesn't happen again.

Another gorgeous day in Denver, so I headed to Cherry Creek State Park for a trail run. Not particularly speedy due to some early adjustments needed on my podcast, earbuds, and hair. But running none the less. I'll take that.

Dog Walking 20:00 [1]

Annie finally got hold of an ever-elusive squirrel…a dead one on the sidewalk. It looked like it was just sleeping. Annie didn't know quite what to do. I don't think she ever imagined herself so close to a squirrel…they always run away! She thoroughly sniffed every cm. of the squirrel and then grabbed a foot to try to bring it home with her. That, of course, did not happen.
