A very fun bike-around-Denver day. First, I biked to the Denver Science Museum because I had a Living Social coupon that was about to expire. It gained me entrance to the museum plus an IMAX film plus a planetarium film...all for $13! I decided on the 3D
Flight of the Butterflies movie, and it was really interesting. I didn't know that the wintering location of the monarch butterflies wasn't discovered until 1975...at least by scientists who made it known. It was cute to see all of the little kids in the audience reaching out to "touch" the butterflies.
I looked around a little between shows and landed on an exhibit of the wildlife and plants of Colorado. I was surprised by how many of the plants I've already come to recognize. Then I went to the planetarium and saw
Passport to the Universe . I find it a little disconcerting to think about the vastness of space and how minuscule Earth is in comparison. And then, how minuscule and totally inconsequential my life is in the scheme of things. I mean, when looked at in the scope of time and space...wow! We really are nothing...and then my head explodes.
To lighten things up, I headed over to watch some of the last day of the US Pro Challenge bike race that was winding its way around Denver. Last year, the Denver leg was a time trial...not quite so exciting. But this year, it was a circuit race with an actual breakaway and a fast peloton.
I stayed for a few laps and then headed home. It's so great to live in a city where *everyone* is out on foot, bikes, skateboards, adult-sized Big Wheels...you name it and Denver has it. So fine!
