Dog Walking 20:00 [1]

Cycling 45:00 [3]

A quick few laps in Wash Park, in between grocery shopping, birthday present shopping for Graham, and making dinner...BBQ chicken, homemade mac-n-cheese, and sauteed asparagus. Graham turns 21 on Wednesday, which makes me feel that much older. And, sadly, I'm going to be out of town for his actual birthday, so we're celebrating on Friday, when Caitlin is here. All of my kids in one place...that hasn't happened since Christmas.

Dog Walking 20:00 [1]

Orienteering race 1:24:22 [4] 5.4 km (15:37 / km)

RMOC local meet. Green course at Peaceful Valley.

Except for #2, this went pretty well. It was probably a better day physically than navigationally, and that doesn't happen too much anymore. I was able to run for most of the course, but my knees are pretty sore tonight. Not painful sore, just achy sore.

I messed up #2 because I didn't see one little cliff on the map. So, I approached it from the south, contouring along a hillside, and when I hit the first cliff, I thought, "Hm, this is the southern-most cliff, which is what the control description said." But, the control wasn't there so I convinced myself I hadn't gone far enough, and kept going. I didn't see anything I liked along the way, relocated, and ended up back at that cliff. Then I convinced myself I *really* hadn't gone far enough, so went back, a little lower this time, and farther, and still didn't see anything I liked. So, I went back one more time and looked carefully at my map. Yes, there was a cliff to the south that was *outside* of the circle. So, I went to the southern-most cliff inside the circle (what a novel idea!), and there it was. Ugh!

The rest of the course went well. I hesitated at both of the pits because the controls were definitely *in* the pits and impossible to see unless you were on top of them.

But, like I said, I was just happy to be able to have run as much as I did.
