Orienteering race 1:03:00 [4] 4.1 km (15:22 / km) +80m 14:00 / km

Classic Green course, Southwest Spring B-Meet in the Sun

This went much better than the past two days. I didn't have many navigational errors, and I felt that I was moving pretty well. I had a little trouble with #3, mainly because it was a faded bag that was well hidden in some tree branches. Also, the descent down from #8 was a little treacherous with the rocks and the cactus.

Overall, this was a great little mini-vacation. I got in some orienteering, I got to visit with Caitlin, and I had 3 days of summer before heading back to winter in Denver.

Orienteering race 52:00 [4] 3.5 km (14:51 / km) +60m 13:41 / km

Middle Course at Southwest Spring B Meet in the Sun

Hot again, and still as much cactus, if not more! I was doing better in the beginning, but then messed up to #4, getting halfway to #5 before I realized my mistake. Then I started to climb the hill to #7, lost my footing and fell all of the way back down. After that, the wind left my sails and I just wanted to get done. Messed up again at #12, watched Barb go to a control to see if it was ours...it was, so I went over and punched in. Then to the finish. Another not-so-stellar day. But still, remarkably fun.

Orienteering race 1:32:00 [4] 4.5 km (20:27 / km) +105m 18:19 / km

Long Green Course, Southwest Spring B Meet in the Sun

This was pretty much fun. It was very hot...70+ degrees, so I had to get used to that. And I had to careful of all of the cactus (saguaro, ocotillo, cat claw, barrel, prickly pear, cholla, etc.!)...I took off my shoes about 10 times to pull out spines. I did okay, just messing up twice on the same control that was #3 and #9. It was all good.
