Green Y course at Chattahoochee State Park. US Long Champs
Not a spectacular time, but I am still very happy. I wore my new knee brace for the first time, and I was able to do some running on the course!
In the beginning, there was quite a bit of adjusting to get it tight enough so it wouldn't slip down. And then there was getting used to the contact points and how those felt. My original plan was to leave it at the spectator control, thinking that would be long enough for a first try, but by the time I got there, it was still helping more than it was annoying, so I kept it on. And on the last loop of the course, it wasn't annoying at all. So, there is hope for the future!
As for the course itself, it went well enough. I missed #1 a bit to the south. I hit the stream, saw the road to my right, and circled around to get the control. On #2, I just missed it to the east and hit the trail by the river. I was momentarily confused, but saw the bridge on the trail and figured it out. After that, I settled down and hit each control pretty much right on until #12. I crossed the powerline at the base of the hill, so knew exactly where I was, but got a little turned around in the woods. I could see the parking lot and the building through the trees, but for some reason, I couldn't line them up. I think I might have been tired by then. I eventually figured it out.
