Orienteering race 1:56:00 intensity: (38:00 @2) + (1:18:00 @4) *****

Day 1 US Champs. Moreau Lake State Park. Green Y. DNF.

Quite a bad day. Maybe my worst orienteering day ever. I just could not understand the map from the very beginning. And it was definitely my bad that I didn't read the meet notes to find out not to rely on the trails. So, going to # 3, I took awhile finding the trail, following the trail, and locating where I was along the trail. So, a lot of work for nothing...I still missed the control by a lot. By the time I got to # 5, I was mentally and physically exhausted and discouraged beyond words. And my knee was quite swollen and not bending very well. So, I took a look at the rest of the course and decided to just jog it in.

Note

Finally got around to scanning map and adding tracks. It doesn't look quite as ugly as it felt out there that day.

Running (trail) 1:09:00 [3] 5.1 mi (13:32 / mi)

A nice run up at Happy Jack. I'm glad we waited a bit to go up because the morning was rainy, grey, and cold. By the time we got up there, it wasn't quite as cold, no rain, and teensy bit of sunshine at times. The weather has definitely turned more seasonal since I arrived.
