Running (trail) 30:00 [3]
Graham had to take some placement tests at the community college that he'll be attending this year, so I took the opportunity to try out a nearby park. For those astute ones out there, yes, that means Graham does not have his driver's license yet. He has this little issue with not being able to pass the written test. So, he'll be taking the local bus to school this year until he can finally pass the test.
Anyway, so I tried out a new park where yet, once again, the trail measurements were way off. A trail that was advertised as 1.6 miles was only .56 miles. What is that? I was in the middle of measuring another one, but my watch died, but I'm sure it was shorter than advertised. That's okay, though, because this entire county park was covered in rocks and boulders, with steep hillsides. At one point, I looked uphill as I was contouring on a trail, and it looked exactly like West Point.
So, it was a good workout even though it was shorter than I had planned. Before I started running, though, I was sitting in my truck, on a conference call, when I slowly realized that this park was overrun by woodpeckers! Lots of pileated woodpeckers, and then a smaller variety...maybe downy woodpeckers? Anyway, it was cool to watch them while I was taking my call.
