Hiking 57:19 [2]

I went for a walk around the neighborhood. I kept up a good pace and was feeling fine, until the last .5 mile, when my knee started hurting a bit. But, I guess that's to be expected. The weather was perfect, sunshine and cool temps. I also saw alot of color with 2 bright blue bluebirds and a flock of redwing blackbirds. The bulbs in many yards, including my own, are coming up, with some crocuses already blooming.

PT 35:00 [1]

Two new exercises today...some time on the recumbent bike (!) and lunges, which were a little painful. My therapist said that my bending angle is better and I'm straightening my knee more. Yay!

Core Conditioning 40:00 [2]

My first time back at Core Conditioning in over a month, and it felt like it. I managed to do all of the exercises, never realizing before how many times you bend your knees. They survived, but needed a little TLC afterwards.

PT 45:00 [1]

I thought it would feel better this time since I'm on the road to recovery, but some of the therapist's manipulations were quite painful. He asked me if I had increased the work load on my knee significantly and, well, I couldn't lie to him, so I told him about the weekend. It didn't make him very happy. Oops! He gave me some new stretches to do at home to help with the straightening aspect. It seems that I can bend it pretty well, but it's just not straightening out the whole way.

Orienteering race 54:43 [3] 4.8 km (11:24 / km)

Tucson A meet, Day 2, Green. I "ran" about the same as yesterday. Pretty much walked straight to each control, with the only difference being that today I managed to run a bit. My knee was feeling good this morning after some ice and ibuprofen yesterday, and it continued to feel good on the course. So, on some of the flatter and smoother areas, I was able to jog a bit. I didn't feel that at all in my knee, and it was only mildly swollen and stiff after the race. I think I might be on the road to recovery.

Today was hotter than yesterday, and the course was pretty easy, technically speaking. Overall, the weekend was a blast and Tucson did a great job hosting this event. If they ever have another winter meet that offers such a beautiful respite from the harsh weather back at home, count me in!
