Running 1:01:00 intensity: (10:00 @2) + (38:00 @3) + (13:00 @4)

I'm back at the beach for the weekend, and was fnally able to get out for a run. This whole "working" thing has just got to stop getting in the way! For the run, I waited too long to get out and it was quite hot when I hit the road. It started out well enough, but by the end of the run, I was in desperate need of some water. I felt good though, and even managed to through in a few tempo-pace intervals. Not 5, but at least it's a start.

Core Conditioning 40:00 [2]

I had a fairly busy day today but didn't want to fall into the category of "procrastinator" (although some would say I pretty much own that category), so I snuck in a core conditioning session. Which also worked out well since there was a hot sticky rain drizzle all day.

Cycling 1:00:00 [3] 16.0 mi (16.0 mph)

Did a few loops on Fredericksburg Battlefield, which is quite shady so the heat wasn't absolutely unbearable. I felt good for about 3/4 of this ride and then both of my calves started cramping up, so I had to take it a little slower. Coming back over the big hill at end was quite a test.

Orienteering 46:54 [2] ***

I spent the first part of the day in Baltimore, with peggyd and vmeyer, visiting the Gee's Bend Quilt exhibit at the Walters Museum. It was an interesting exhibit, with some very non-conventional, creative quilts. Valerie's mom met us there, and brought us to a local pub for lunch...a lot of fun.

Afterwards, we journeyed down to Greenbelt Park to set up a training event in the Summer Short Series. Peggy had designed a memory-O, and we all took some controls to set out. The map needs a bit of work, so it took a little more relocating to ensure the controls were in the correct places. I opted not to run the actual Memory-O course, as I was having a nice time chatting with the others in the parking lot, and because it was 100 degrees!

A very fun day!
