Orienteering 1:37:47 [3] 7.5 km (13:02 / km)

Line-O training at Blockhouse Conservation Area near Potomac, MD. Another stellar event put on by Nadim. This was very good training at concentration, something I've been lacking in the last few O-meets. Towards the end of the line-O, I was thinking that my brain was getting tired. Maybe that's how it's supposed to feel after every O-meet. There were no controls to indicate whether or not you were on the line, but I found all of the features along the way. I was off a few times, but backtracked until I got back on the line. There were some trashy areas -- literally old dumping areas -- which surprised me since it's a conservation area. But, there were also some beautiful patches to run through. I hit some stinging nettles again, and these were pretty potent.

Dinner after at Potomac Pizza with a bunch of QOCers, including StoraMoo, who had a meat and cheese calzone to help fatten him up.

Running 29:45 [3]

A quite unspectacular run. I was ready to run some tempo intervals a la peggyd, but within miuntes of starting my run, I could tell my legs were not up for it. So, i struggled through a few miles, just happy that I got something in for the day.

Cycling 1:00:00 [3]

I finally managed to get out on the W&OD trail after work. This has been so difficult because my work basically never ends. I could be on my computer 24 hours a day, and still not get everything done. So, it's up to me to put a stake in the ground, stand up from my desk, and declare the day over so I can go for a ride. And today, I was successful at it.

It was an interesting ride because when I began, it was so hot and oppressive. But, at some point during the ride, a pretty bad storm passed over the trail behind me, and on my way back, it was very cool and refreshing, although wet with many puddles on the trail.

Note

No training today. I just wanted to see if the box was bigger...and it is!

Running 44:09 [3] 4.6 mi (9:36 / mi)

This was a little tough. I got out later than I had planned (around 8:00 a.m.) and it was already a scorcher. I did push through, though, and not wimp out, which is a small victory.

AOWN: Our neighborhood is getting overrun with rabbits. I saw one this morning hop across a lawn to a dandelion, pick it, and then sit on its haunches and nibble up the stem to the flower, which he deftly popped into his mouth. It looked like a scrumptious breakfast.

Yoga 40:00 [1]

A combination of being tired and having too many chores to do led to an evening session of power yoga. It felt really good.
