Orienteering 1:34:15 [3] **

Ok, I finally made it outside! Today was still cold, hovering around freezing, but the sun was shining and work was calm, so I ventured out to Hemlock. My intention was to run as much of the Blue course that I set a few weeks ago as I could in 1:40. And, I was running it in reverse order. I ended up only skipping 5-4-3, and cutting from 6 to 2, which actually made for some good orienteering. I also went out without a compass again since, by now, I am quite familiar with this area. And, actually, this might be borderline terrain run vs. orienteering, but I will keep it classified as o-ing. Even though this is my third time in the area in less than a month, I still managed to make a parallel error on a reentrant. Nothing too disastrous, but still troublesome. Other than that, no problems except for feet that were two blocks of ice by the end.

Note

I had quite a few AOWN moments today, but the best was when I looked out my kitchen window into the backyard and saw 4 deer grazing on my lawn! Now, it's not like I live in the wilderness...I'm in a subdivision. I've seen the occasional deer run through my backyard, but never four at one time. And never just grazing on my grass!

I also saw two beautiful bluebirds on my way to Hemlock and almost ran over a hawk. That's right. It swooped right down in front of my car...I think he was on his way to a mouse and wasn't paying attention to traffic. Very dangerous.

My final sighting was on all of the trails at Hemlock. It seemed like no matter which trail I was on, there were animal footprints,,,the padded kind not the hoofy kind. On the first trail, I just thought they were dog prints, but then I realized there were no human footprints accompanying them. After that, I noticed the same prints on every single trail I was on. Freaky!

Core Conditioning 40:00 [2]

That's right, I didn't go outside again. Not because it was too cold (although it was cold), but because it was a very crazy day at work. There's always tomorrow.

Cycling 40:00 [2]

I promise I will get outside tomorrow. It snowed a little overnight...not much but enough to cancel schools.

Strength Training 50:00 [2]

Okay, I'm being a wimp. I admit it. It's just too darned cold to do anything outside. It's supposed to get warmer later in the week, and I think I'll venture to Hemlock and run my Blue course in reverse order.

Yoga 40:00 [1]

A good stretch after yesterday's run. Plus, an indoor activity on a very cold day.

Cycling 1:00:00 [2]

Yea! Another indoor, warm activity. It is mighty cold outside. Not Laramie, big wind cold, but cold enough for this cowgirl. Oh, right, I'm not a cowgirl. I keep forgetting.

Running 2:08:38 [2] 10.0 mi (12:52 / mi)

Went for a trail run with Valerie and Heidi at Wakefield Park. It was pretty cold, but not unbearable. The trail was also pretty muddy and slippery...my shoes felt like Frankenstein boots towards the end. This was a good run since I hadn't run long for quite awhile. And just one fall! Not bad.
