Event: BATONA 500

Orienteering race 1:11:00 [4] *** 6.35 km (11:11 / km) +103m 10:21 / km

I was having a great run until the long leg to #13. I didn't have a good attack plan, and it showed. Missed the spur to the right, found a control in a reentrant, and then proceeded to find it 2 more times before I found my control. I pretty much ran out of enthusiasm after that. I was feeling very strong up until that point.

Running 58:00 [3]

Ran at an undisclosed location with the best running partner in the world. This person is so nice and sweet and beautiful, in both looks and spirit. I would run with this person whenever and wherever possible. Just a supreme experience.

Running 1:32:00 [3]

Ran at an undisclosed location with a person whose identity must remain semi-confidential for supposed reasons of national security. But I can admit to not seeing a pileated woodpecker flying by right at the end of the pre-taper running phase. I heard it was a big old sucker of a bird.

Running 37:11 [3] 4.0 mi (9:18 / mi)

Another run through the neighborhood where it started out as a regular run and turned a little faster. I was just trying to get something in for the day before I took Graham and a friend to the MLS Eastern Conference Champs [DC United lost to the Revolution :-( ]. The weather was perfect and I was using my new iPod Shuffle that just clips on and is about the size of a postage stamp, so all was right with the world. This was my fastest time on this course for awhile.
