Running (Trail) 48:50 [3] 5.1 mi (9:34 / mi)

I don't know whether to call the C&O canal road or trail running. I was up babysitting Meg's children and left them in the care of Tanner and Graham while I got in a run. It was quite hot and muggy...surprise, surprise...so the canal was a little stinky.

Running (Trail) 45:15 [3]

Explored some trails at Eleanor C. Lawrence Park after work. We used to have a rudimentary map of this park and even held a few o-meets there many years ago. The trails were very nice...soft and covered with mulch. And flat, for the most part. The only bad part was the horrible humidity. I looked like I had just stepped out of the shower when I was finished running. Yuck!

Running 43:53 [3]

I foolishly waited until late morning to go for a run. It was unbelievably hot and humid. I almost had to stop early because I was afraid of the heat, but I just slowed down instead and took it very easy.

Swimming 45:00 [2] 1.55 km (29:02 / km)

An easy-ish session in the pool. It started to rain towards the end, but the pool didn't close because there was no lightning. It was a little weird swimming in the rain. It reminded me of when I was on a canoe trip down the Green River through Mammoth Cave NP. We had paddled all day in the blazing sun, and after we made camp on a small island, we hopped in the river to cool off. Soon after, the sky opened up and it started hailing. So, we were standing in neck-high water watching the hail bounce off the river. Pretty cool.

Running (Trail) 1:00:25 [3]

I ran on the trail that parallels the Fredericksburg Battlefield drive. Running the trail adds distance and climb, plus it makes for a more enjoyable run. I held off doing this until the evening, after I had dropped Graham off at sleep-away soccer camp. He went last year and had the time of his life, so I sent him again this year.

Since it was later in the evening, the humidity wasn't too, too bad. In fact, there was a slight breeze going on. I was also surprised to see quite a few people running on the trail. It's always nice to see others enjoying the outdoors.
