Orienteering 1:38:20 [4] 9.3 km (10:34 / km) +210m 9:30 / km

Finally, I put together a nice run. I was a little nervous about this event and had decided to take it very carefully. However, once I got out in the woods, I was surprised how much it reminded me of PWF. I immediately felt comfortable and relaxed and just let it go from there. I hit every control pretty cleanly except for #7...attacked from the wrong stream, mucked around for a bit and then found it on my way back out to the powerline to relocate. Phew! I was very cautious inside all of the circles since that has tended to be my achilles heel. I kept seeing Dasha from 6 to 11, but then she missed 11 by a bit. I ended up 6th between Sandra and Hillary.

All in all, a very enjoyable weekend. We were so lucky with the weather, the maps were great and the courses were some of the best I've been on in a while. They were just plain fun to run. Thanks SLOC!

Orienteering 47:38 [4] *** 4.61 km (10:20 / km) +95m 9:22 / km

Ok, today went much better. I felt like I was running well and hitting almost all of the controls right on. I had a few driftings on 3 controls, but nothing too major. However, one of them was enough to let Sharon slip by...rats! The course was one of the most enjoyable I've run in quite a while.

Orienteering 26:08 [4] ** 2.62 km (9:58 / km) +75m 8:44 / km

Despite a rather dismal showing on the first day of an orienteering weekend, I had fun. The course was fun and it was nice weather. I had some pretty bad bobbles at a few controls and that pretty much ended everything. And, by the way, I'm not a particularly fast runner.
