Running 40:20 [3] 4.0 mi (10:05 / mi)
(injured)

After all of the talk about how hot it could be at the Team Trials, I decided to try this run in the heat of the afternoon, in the low 80's. It didn't go well. I was quite melty by the end of the first mile and my ankle start having little twinges of pain. I went very, very slow, but I'm glad I did it. A few more of these sessions, and at least I will be semi-ready for any heat in St. Louis.

Running 29:35 [3] 3.0 mi (9:52 / mi)
(injured)

Decided to test my ankle this morning with a short run through the neighborhood. Although it didn't hurt at all, I was definitely aware of my ankle throughout the run. I iced it for 15 mins. afterwards, so we'll see how it goes through the day.

Note

I think I'm going to start logging my time spent at Starbucks (a la Shep and his cafe time). I would definitely shoot to the top of the training log.

Core Conditioning 40:00 [2]
(injured)

Since I can't run or swim, I'll be relying on very alternative methods of training...hence the hard core conditioning DVD. Although I have to say I do love this workout. I feel much stronger every time I do it.

Cycling 45:00 [3]
(injured)

I was going to go swimming today, but I found out that our local pool is closed for the next two weeks in order to take the "bubble" off which converts it to an indoor pool during the winter. So, I'll be stuck with cycling for awhile until my ankle gets better. It was still swollen today and a little sore.

Note
(injured)

I am logging myself as injured for the first time on AP, and I'm not quite sure what is going on. It seems I might have hurt myself worse than I thought last Sunday at the NC A-meet. I did twist my ankle that day and it took a little while to "shake it off", but I finished the race and I didn't really think about it after that. On Monday, however, I awoke to a swollen and painful ankle. I thought that not running for almost a week would have been enough and, indeed, it wasn't swollen and didn't hurt for this past week. Unfortunately, though, when I woke up this morning, it was swollen again and very painful...so much so that it was difficult to walk. I guess my little run yesterday aggravated it, but it's so weird that I didn't feel it all week, and then this rather drastic reaction to a short run. Guess I'll be doing cross-training this week and taking extra good care of the ankle.

Cycling 1:00:00 [2]

My ankle stayed swollen all day and even began throbbing a bit at the end of the day...just for good measure. I opted for a session on the trainer this evening while watching "Grey's Anatomy" and everything was going fine until I went to clip out of my pedals. When I twisted my foot to get out, a shot of pain went through my ankle. I won't be doing that again!
