Cycling 1:29:50 [3] 21.31 mi (14.2 mph) +152m

An absolutely wonderful ride. The trail was a bit crowded, but no one was out of control and everyone exhibited a fair amount of civility.

Kayaking 30:00 [3]

Went for a little tour of the lake where one of the adventure races that I might do is going to be held. Plus, I wanted to make sure I could still kayak. And I can.

Orienteering 1:06:48 [3] 4.31 mi (15:30 / mi) +75m 14:42 / mi

I finally made it to one of QOC's Summer Sprint Series events. It was 4 loops -- 2 long and 2 short -- on the campus of Univ. of Maryland. Most people only did two loops - a long and a short. I thought it was tons of fun. I love sprint courses on campuses, even if I'm not sprinting. It was a tad hot, though. Many thanks to Boris and Alli for hosting this one.

When I got there, it was very confusing about where you could park. I found a parking lot where the sign said campus permit parking Monday - Friday, 7 am to 4 pm, so I thought it would be fine to park in there. The gates were open and everything. But, I got back to my car to find a $75 ticket. :-(

I went back to check the sign, and in very tiny print at the bottom, it said "teacher permit required all other times." Drat.

HIIT 30:00 [4]

This was an especially hard Tabata class.

Mt. Biking 1:00:12 [3] 11.28 mi (11.2 mph) +23m

This was mt. biking only because I was riding a mt. bike. Otherwise, it was like a road ride. I pulled out my mt. bike because I'm contemplating doing a few adventure races this fall, and I thought it would be a good idea to test out my ride. And that was a good thing...as soon as I began I remembered that my front brakes weren't working from before. Not that I was doing much braking today, but now I know I need to take it in for a tune-up and brake job.

Running 44:22 [3] 3.07 mi (14:27 / mi) +48m 13:47 / mi

I wanted to get out before the rains came it, and I made with only about 5 minutes to spare. It's supposed to rain everyday for the next week. That doesn't make me sad because my garden really needs the water.

Back at the beach for the weekend. I went for a morning run and encountered some local denizens.

Running 45:06 [3] 3.03 mi (14:53 / mi) +41m 14:17 / mi

Finally a day that was not stifling hot and dripping wet with humidity. It was beautiful today, with low humidity (for Virginia). This went much better than my run at the beach.
