Possible Hurdle #1: Inspection

The house passed with flying colors. The inspector was even impressed by how well the house had been maintained. Woo hoo!

Yoga 1:30:00 intensity: (1:10:00 @2) + (20:00 @3)

I love this class.

Cycling 46:00 [2] 10.0 mi (13.0 mph)

And this is why I moved to Denver: A nice afternoon bike ride on Cherry Creek trail with my friend, Marnie. We rode from Cherry Creek Mall to Confluence Park, where Cherry Creek meets the Platte River. Then we sat outside of REI, sipping Starbucks coffees, watching the river and everyone on the bike trail, talking about life and kids and work, etc. And then we biked back.

So, so, so happy I moved here!

Cycling (trainer) 30:00 [3]

This was a great workout. It was pretty intense, for me, and there was a fair amount of sweating. I feel like I'm on the road back.

Warm up: 5 mins @ L5
Intervals: 5x (2 mins @ L8 / 1 min @ L10)
Cool down: 10 mins @ L5

HIIT 40:00 [3]

This was the weight circuit workout. I think I'm going to feel this one. It went faster than when I did it with the trainer because there was no time used for showing me how to do the exercises.

HIIT 1:00:00 [2]

This was all strength training and some stretching.

Note

I made an appointment today. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Pilates (Reformer) 45:00 [2]

I signed up for a beginner's Pilates class, mainly so I can take the more advanced classes later, after I learn how to do it. I wouldn't say tonight was a very tough workout, but my muscles feel better.

Note

Here is the house I put a contract on today:

Denver House

No guarantees that I'll end up with it, as things can go awry along the way...low appraisal, disastrous inspection, etc. But, if all goes well, I'll be moving in on Feb. 29 - Leap Day.

Yoga 1:30:00 intensity: (20:00 @1) + (50:00 @2) + (20:00 @3)

Took a Vinyasa class at the gym, and it was really good. I talked to the instructor before class, mainly to let her know about my limitations, and she was very helpful throughout the class, coming over to offer alternative positions. The middle part of the class got pretty intense, and the other parts definitely stretched me out. I feel very mellow right now.

HIIT 1:00:00 [3]

I decided that I needed to work with a personal trainer at my gym to get me going, and today was my first session. It was a circuit routine including:

1000m row
2 sets of stability ball exercises: chest press, squats, crunches

500m row
2 sets of TRX exercises: side lunge and rows
2 sets of ab roller

1000m row

2 sets of leg press

The rowing was fun. I got pretty winded but it felt good to be pushing myself. I'm icing my knee now, and we'll see how I feel in the morning.

Treadmill 20:00 [3]

I joined a gym here in Denver, and I think I'm going to like it. It's smaller than the one I belonged to in New Jersey and much more low-key. It has all of the machines that I use plus an indoor track plus a salt-water pool. There are also many interesting looking classes to take. And it's close to where I work so when I move into my house, I can stop there on my way home. This is a double plus because it will allow me to wait until the traffic has died down.

Elliptical 20:00 [3]

This was the closest I've come to running in about a year. After many nights of dreaming that I was still running, this felt great!

Strength Training 20:00 [2]

Just did one circuit of my primary machines because I didn't want to wake up tomorrow, unable to move.

Snowshoeing race 1:21:00 [3]

My first O-meet as an official RMOCer! Drove to Eldora this morning for a Ski-O/Snowshoe-O. I think the drive there was the scariest part. Up into the foothills, on winding, snow/ice covered roads. I white-knuckled it the whole way, going very, very slowly, hoping that my NJ tags would buy me a little bit of sympathy from the drivers behind me. I think I need to start looking for a 4WD something.

The meet itself was an absolute blast, if not something of a lung-burner for me. The route to the first control was straight up a ski slope, granted it was a bunny-looking slope, but still! I had to stop 3 times just to catch my breath. Once I was on top, things got better. Didn't have any navigational errors at all, even though there were some tricky intersections with 5-6 trails coming in.

I was also welcomed very warmly by my RMOC buddies, including valet service from John Crowther at the download station. He assured me, though, that that was *not* the norm.

Hiking 49:17 [3] 2.68 mi (18:23 / mi)

After a longish work day, I didn't think I'd have enough time to get up to the hills for a hike before it got dark, so I took a loop around the Flats. It was such a beautiful day, almost impossible to believe that it's January in Laramie.

Hiking 45:00 [2] 2.37 mi (18:59 / mi)

Finally! I made it to Laramie, with a brief stop at Happy Jack for a quick hike. Although the trail was snow-covered, it was packed down enough to be able to walk on it. It felt so good to be out of the car after three days of driving! And, as luck would have it, I ran into a certain Mr. Fox in the parking lot, just finishing up his ski session for the day. He very kindly gave me his park pass so I wouldn't get nabbed by a ranger. It's soooo nice to be in Laramie, again.
