Stretching 10:00 [1]

I got a Stretch Out Strap, the same one that I use in PT. It helps me get that extra stretch by pulling more on the strap, after relaxing first. I like the way I feel *very* stretchy afterwards.

Hiking 1:40:00 [2] 5.33 mi (18:46 / mi)

I was so motivated after the Ski-O WOC performances of the fabulous Team USA, that I decided to go for a hike in Jockey Hollow. I had been thinking of doing the Grand Loop trail and that's what I did. It usually takes me a little over an hour to run this loop, so I was expecting it to take about 2 hours to hike, and I was pleasantly surprised to end up with 1:40. My knee felt a little tight in the beginning, but then loosened up nicely. I concentrated on walking correctly and not trying to compensate for anything. Everything went well except for the last half mile or so, when my knee started to get pretty stiff. A couple of Aleves and some ice should help that.

It was a fantastic morning with bright sunshine and chilly, but not cold, temps. There were alot of folks in the park and another woman who was hiking the Grand Loop trail, too, but in the opposite direction. The trails were pretty clear of snow, except for a few stretches, and I couldn't figure out why those parts were still snow covered. Nothing about them or the surrounding woods indicated why they weren't melting as quickly as the other spots. Weird. All of that and some interesting Fresh Air podcasts made for a very rewarding hike.

Hiking 45:00 intensity: (30:00 @2) + (15:00 @3)

I went for a nice after-work hike in Jockey Hollow. I threw in a few running sessions, definitely the most I've done so far since my surgery. It felt okay except for the clicking in my knee. That was a little annoying.

Walking 1:00:00 [1]

Ok, I am logging this because I seem to recall that Peggy logged shopping at one point.

Caitlin was visiting for the weekend, so we spent the day at Woodbury Commons Outlet Mall. We were there for 6.5 hours, walking the entire time except for 30 mins. when we stopped for lunch. We are both exhausted tonight, but some good deals were definitely found.

Rode some more on my trainer at home tonight. It seems to help in loosening up my knees.

Hiking 48:12 [2] 2.87 mi (16:48 / mi)

A morning hike in Jockey Hollow. I was going to go yesterday, but I woke up to sub-freezing temps, swirling snow, and gusty winds. So, I went today. It was a much more beautiful day.

Cycling (Trainer) 15:00 [2]

At PT.

Strength Training 15:00 [2]

I'm starting to get into more intense exercises in PT, so I thought I could start logging them. Halfway through PT (total of 6 weeks), and I feel pretty good.

Cycling (Trainer) 20:00 [3]

I decided to try the trainer again since I have been riding a trainer at PT as a warm up, and it's been okay. And this session was okay, too. In fact, it was better than okay...it felt great. I almost felt like my old self with no knee pain in either knee. I only went for 20 minutes because I didn't want to push it yet, and plus, I was pretty tired. Tired, but encouraged.

Yoga 40:00 [2]

Since the biking session went so well, I decided to be daring and do yoga, too. And this went remarkably well, also. I didn't have to do any modifications, and I felt pretty fluid moving in and out of the poses. All in all, a good and encouraging day.
