An early run on a new section of the Patriot's Path, and this was a really good section. It started out on a grassy, cross-country-like trail, then when through the woods for a bit, then on a gravel bike path that was flat as a pancake, next to a stream. After that, it went through a field that had some kind of flower/tree that smelled unbelievably delicious. I couldn't find which one it was, but it was quite intoxicating.
Then the trail went up the only real hill on this section and down the other side, through some more beautiful woods and then I turned around. I was almost at Lewis Morris Park, so now I have to devise a loop that will take me from my house, along this section, through Lewis Morris, through Jockey Hollow, and back home again. It will probably be about 8 miles.
This is the proof of how nice the run was. I was only going to run 2 miles because my best friend from Norway, Therese, is flying in today with her daughter to stay with me for a week, and there is still lots to do. But every time I got to a major turning point...1 mile, 1.5 miles, 2 miles...I wanted to see what was coming up around the bend. I almost did keep going after 2, just to see how it entered in to Lewis Morris, but I knew I had to get home.

DVOA event at Stuckey Pond. It was a beautiful day for being outside, albeit a tad chilly. I had been planning on attending this meet for awhile since it was relatively close (1.5 hrs.) and I remembered how much I enjoyed the map for the US Champs that were held here. And I wasn't disappointed. The course was very nice and challenging, a good practice to get back in to map reading. It was also good to refresh my pre-race routine. It isn't quite so routine anymore, and I find that I'm forgetting things, like my Forerunner. :-)
I had a few bobbles today...overrunning #3 by a little bit and hesitating going in to #5. And my knee started getting pretty swollen and stiff by #10. But otherwise, it was a good day.

I went for a run at Jockey Hollow with my friend, Heather. It felt like I was going faster than I do on my own, but the time shows that not to be the case.

I decided that today was a perfect day for a 3.999 mile run at Jockey Hollow. (Really, it said 4.0 when I stopped running.) It was a gorgeous late afternoon run, with the woods greening up and lots of lovely flower smells. I wasn't sure how I'd feel for this because I just got my implant yesterday (tooth!) and I was wondering if the jarring motion of running would make it hurt, but it did not. In fact, I felt no pain whatsoever during the procedure or any time after wards. The dentist gave me some Vicodin, and I took one yesterday, just in case, but I probably didn't need it. It just amazes me that I haven't been in pain considering what he did to my poor jaw.
