Hiking 50:00 [2]

My two sisters and their kids and me went to Catoctin Mountain Park to hike the Cunningham Falls trail. Unfortunately, I had to finish up some work before I could start on the hike, so I sat in the car and worked on my laptop until the battery died, then I went to meet them. I didn't quite make it to the falls before I met them coming back. It was a beautfiul day, almost a little too warm, and the hike was a lot of fun. Lots of up and down, so I had to be especially careful on the down.

Elliptical 30:00 [2]

I'm visiting my sister, Marit, for the weekend, so we went to her gym. IT was pretty nice. Decided to try the elliptical since I haven't done that for awhile. It felt good.

Stair Machine 30:00 [2]

Walking (treadmill) 21:00 [2]

Running (treadmill) 9:00 [3]

I added some running intervals to my treadmill session to start building up the running time. It felt goodish.

Stair Machine 30:00 [3]

I added a new machine to my repertoire...a stair machine. Or a stepper. I'm not sure what it's really called. Anyway, I went to the gym with Heather, a friend from work, and she convinced me to try it. I think it's a good one for my knee...and for my legs. It was pretty brutal, but it felt surprisingly good when I was done.

Walking 10:00 [1]

A little warmup before class.

Strength Training 1:00:00 [2]

This was billed as the same class that I took on Saturday, but it was a different instructor and a very different class. Not really as good a workout, but fine enough, especially for my arms. A few too many lunges for my taste, though.

Walking (treadmill) 32:00 [2]

avg. 3.7 with 4.0 incline

Running (treadmill) 3:00 [3]

I decided to see what it felt like running now, after my setback in Wisconsin. And, it felt not bad. So, I'll try adding more minutes next time.

Cycling 10:00 [1]

I decided to see what it felt like cycling, after my setback in Wisconsin. And, it felt not bad. I can go back to some cycling workouts.

Strength Training 1:00:00 [3]

And, finally, I decided to try a strength training class at the gym. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to do it all, but I could, with some modifications. I couldn't do the child's pose stretch or lunge all of the way down, but otherwise, it was very fine.

I am very pleased with all of the workouts today. It was very encouraging.

Hiking 50:00 [1]

I'm visiting Mom and Don for the weekend, and we went over to Antietam Battlefield towards the end of the day for a little hike. The light was beautiful, that sharp just-before-setting golden glow. The temps were perfect (in the low 60s) and it was just nice to be out with my mom. Until she stopped at this beautiful old oak tree, in the middle of a field, with a cute bench beneath it and small section of an old stone wall, and then announced that this is where she wants her ashes scattered once she's dead. Thanks, Mom! That was a real pick-me-upper.
