Note

I ran today! I realized my boss was about to send out a document with wrong numbers in it, and I had to stop her. So, I took off running down the hall without thinking about it. I was able to get to her in time, and there don't seem to be any immediate adverse reactions to the running. I see a glimmer of light.

Note

I've received my dynamic brace and have been trying to sleep with it on, but it hasn't been easy. My knee gets achy from being pushed constantly, and it's just difficult to find a comfortable position when I'm basically in traction. Hopefully, it will make things better.

Cardio 45:00 [3]

I tried a new piece of equipment today, an Arc trainer. It's kind of like that machine that that guy with the long hair sold/sells on TV. I think it was more difficult than the elliptical, and it didn't make my knee feel all that great. I might not do that one again. But, it was a good cardio workout.

Note

I went to a new doctor today since I wasn't too happy with the first one I saw here in Morristown. This new doctor was much better. I've been worried for awhile about my lack of ability to really bend my knee, and this doctor heard my concerns. He's going to get me fitted for a Dynasplint, a dynamic way of slowly bending my knee throughout the day and night. At the same time, I'll start on a steroid pack to loosen my ligaments to help them stretch. Hopefully, this will loosen my knee up enough so I can start running again.

Elliptical 45:00 [3]

This is the longest cardio workout I've done since April. Phew!

Elliptical 33:00 [3]

I had the grand tour of all of the equipment at the gym the other day, so I decided to try the elliptical instead of the treadmill and really liked it. It doesn't bend my knee too much to hurt, and it's a better work out than the treadmill, both for my knee and for cardio benefits.

Strength Training 45:00 [1]

I've added leg curls and calf raises to my repertoire, along with some machines for back, shoulders, arms and abs. Maybe I'll get super buff during this recovery period. Probably not.

Aqua Fitness 1:00:00 [2]

I decided to explore new type of exercise...aqua fitness...as something to do that won't hurt my knee. The club I joined has 3 different types of fitness classes in the pool, but a lady I talked with this morning said they are all the same, so, I'll try all 3. Today's was basic aqua aerobics, and it was a pretty good class. I felt like I was getting a semi-decent workout, especially for my arms. I don't know that my heart rate ever got super high, but I feel better for doing it, and that's what counts. Plus, it didn't hurt my knee at all.
