Hiking 31:15 [2] 1.74 mi (17:58 / mi) +5m 17:49 / mi

I'm in Fort Collins for the weekend to visit the boys, so I thought I'd try to go for a run on the Poudre Trail. When I got there, I saw that it is a beautiful, but paved, trail. Normally that would be okay, I could just run on the side in the dirt, but the sides of this trail had about 5" of snow on them, so that wasn't going to work. And the one thing that still makes my knees hurt is running on pavement. So, I switched it up to a brisk walk.

Strength Training 1:00:00 [3]

Body Pump. I didn't think I'd make this class today because Mom and Don spent the night so Don could go to the hash in Reston. They left early enough that I could make the class, but I had already eaten breakfast, so my stomach was not so happy during class. But I added weights to everything so progress.

Hiking 54:17 [3] 2.75 mi (19:44 / mi)

Walking between metro stops worked so well the other night that I had a planned one tonight. I walked from work to the Foggy Bottom station, and it was pretty interesting. I saw a little bit of everything, including walking past the White House. I may or may not have flipped off the a-hole who lives there. And I don't mean Melania.

Hiking 29:00 [3] 1.5 mi (19:20 / mi)

Metro was a mess tonight. Both of the lines I could take were single-tracking, so trains were coming 20 minutes apart. After waiting on the platform for about 30 minutes, I finally just took the Blue line to at least get to Rosslyn. After standing on that platform for another 20 minutes, I decided to start walking to the next station, about 1 mile. When I got there, I saw they were still single tracking, so I walked to the next station, about .5 miles. By then, they were back on schedule, so I went back below ground.

Brown course at Clopper Lake.

I had second thoughts about going to this event, mainly because I was having some definite GI issues this morning. And because of this:

But I did end up going, and the rain wasn't bad at all while I was in the woods. The course was fun, and I did fine. There were some hills that were very difficult to get up because they were basically mud slides. I'm glad I was wearing my spikes!

I just had one sub-par route choice, but otherwise I was happy with my choices.

Running 32:48 [3] 2.39 mi (13:44 / mi) +16m 13:26 / mi

A muddy slog in the rain. I was very lucky that I didn't go down at a few of the more treacherous spots. It felt to be outside, though.

Body Pump. I was still a little sore from Tuesday's class, but I went anyway. Now I think I'm going to be very sore!

Hiking 1:00:00 [1]

About a month ago I found some really cheap flights to Amsterdam on Icelandair - $350 rt! So I grabbed two of my friends -- Meg and Nicole -- and we spent a long weekend there. We arrived Thursday morning and left Sunday afternoon. In between, we walked about 10 miles a day, saw 4 great museums, and ate our way through the bakeries and cafes. It was a wonderful trip!
