Event: QOC Beer Chase
Orienteering race 1:11:21 [3] *** 6.7 km (10:39 / km)
The Beer Chase at Jug Bay. Another fine event, with a very fun 3-loop course set by Peggy D. I had a few errors, but not too bad. Tim Good ended up passing me on the third loop, but I was able to stay with him through the briars...I used him to find all of the sticker bushes. He got me by 5 secs. because if I had tried to drink the last beer any faster, I would have thrown up, and then I would have lost many style points. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate this year, and it was a chilly day, with massive amounts of rain. At times, I felt like I was running while taking a shower.
After the meet, QOC had its annual end-of-the-year picnic, elections, and awards ceremony. Thankfully, I was elected VP from Virginia. I was so afraid there would be a last minute nomination from the floor, but I was able to thwart all desperate attempts to wrest it out of my grasp. Phew, that was close!
