Kayaking (Necky 14) 3:31:00 [3] 18.25 mi (11:34 / mi)
on the Kettle from hwy48 Hinckley to Snake River landing
Flow was 636 cfs at Sandstone and at 6'6" on the hwy 48 bridge, this was a very nice level with most rapids in good shape and some avoidance manoeuvering required for bigger partially hidden boulders in the boulder garden sections . A number of small sand bars were also visible and useful for stops.
Saw a lot of wildlife : several does with fawns done by river, 4 eagles and a group of 8 herons . River was quiet ; no one on river , only saw 2 group of people at the Maple Island landing and Snake River Landing, Mosquitoes were fierce at Snake River landing so didn't linger there .
All the recent rains/floods have moved a lot of sand about. Hwy 48 landing blacktop was covered in about 1' of sand up about 20' up hte ramp, Seven Islands seemed to have a lot more sand bars
