USVI St John with Arawak Expeditions - day 1 of our trip kayaking with Lori, Mike and Julia, Jim and Kathi and guide . We were in the "hurricane hole" bays of E side of St John. The area is virgin islands coral reef and national monument . Started out in Princess Bay then worked way around to otter creek (snorkel) , then Water creek , snorkel and lunch) then back.
Very nice outing and good guide . Stopped for smoothies on way back to town
Snorkeling 1:30:00 [2] 0.75 mi (2:00:00 / mi)
snorkelling around Otter Creek and Water creek in Hurricane Hole area of St John.
The area was unique in that it had steep hill sides leading down to the water's edge and then continuing on with steep drop offs (with small rocks etc) in the water. Lots of small fish hiding in the mangrove roots and around the small rocks.
Lunch stop was invaded by armies of advancing hermit crabs who advanced on every morsel of food out there . Interesting!
