Swimming (Open water) 18:00 [3] 0.8 km (22:30 / km)

Open water swim at square lake . Water was surprisingly warm at around 70 deg.
2 PM

Kayaking 2:45:00 [2] 8.0 mi (20:37 / mi)

Escaped the thunderstorms by going East to Black river falls to meet up with Andrei and group . A late start so went to the East Fork of the Black River. Put in at Pray rd with bike staged at the very basic overguard rd "landing" ( I added orange tape since it was very overgrown )

Pray Rd to Overguard Rd : 6.5 miles about 2 hrs . Water was quite high . Several riffle sections as river went through rock bands . Only one cabin ( at mile 1) otherwise not a sign of any human activity.. Very remote feeling. saw 2 magnificent large eagles .
Sunny and warm . Water about 70 deg so very pleasant. Got to overguard "landing" and was glad I had hung tape there. Decided to carry on and do next 1.5 miles with advertised class I and II-III

OverguArd to E Fork rd: very nice section , much livelier with some class II sections and many bends with steeper gradient . Once again remote with only 1 cabin ( 1/4 mile before E Fork rd bridge) and same rocky features with occasional small sandy patches.

Landing was also pretty non existent .

a good river to run in spring when high .

Flow was approx 200 Cfs gage 894.0 on the age at E Fork rd bridge.

Swimming 30:00 [3] 1.5 km (20:00 / km)
weight:154.5lbs

Early morning swim . Woke at 430 so went to Y for swim on a beautiful clear morning
11 AM

Kayaking 5:00:00 [2] 13.5 mi (22:13 / mi)

Minnehaha Creek with Jim and Kathi, Lori, Pete W, Phil S, Chris P , Clark F and others . Flow was high and fast at 350 cfs and creek was officially closed. Hwy 169 bridge clearance was apparently too low so we put in at Knollwood and went to Lake Nokomis. Several low clearance bridges including one that we had to portage . One log jam just below I-35 . Didn't try the chutes at Edina Mill and 54th street flow was very fast and tricky

Several people capsized but Lori and I had no problems . Water wasn't too cold at 65 deg F and it was a nice warm day . So another superb Minnehaha creek run
