Orienteering (map checking) 1:50:00 [2] 6.5 km (16:55 / km) +100m 15:43 / km

with Pete, Phil , Erin and Jerry B at Timerland Hills , Taking a look on the ground at the new map. Alternated biking the trails with orienteering on foot

Map had uSGS contours (20') so lacked some fine contour detail but this is excellent terrain (glacial moraine) with very open woods in most places. It is a somewhat active forest but they seem to take trees out selectively and not clear cut. So there we only a very few areas of thick aspen regrowth . 2400 acres of county forest land with an extensive ski trail network. It would be a great lcoatin for a 3 hr rogaine or a regualr MNOC meet (provided that controls are not set in a way that requires fine contour detail)

mountain biking the trails at Timberland Hills. Trails were soft and leaf covered. Lots of hills

Friday off work since a nice fall day and vacation to use up. Went down to Red Wing and biked the Cannon Valley trail to Cannon Falls for a light lunch and back. Strong S wind . Saw 6 other bikes in 40 mile round trip

spiked:16/16c shoes: Inov Oroc 340 - yellow

MNOC Nerstran Big woods meet: cold rain at 38 deg F on the drive down there so it din't look good. Sun came out about 12 30 so things were quite pleasant.

Good run ; Oroc 340's with chunky treads and carbide spikes were perfect for good traction in and out of the steep muddy gullies.

6.3 km str line ; took trail options. The Nerstrand gullies seem to only really be worth trying to cross at the very top if at all in many cases

Garmin about 20 seconds off (forgot to start it til baout 40 m into run)

MNOC Nerstrand Brown course ; ran the brown for some additional training. woods were fast and open . Messed up with starting Garmin
