Walking/Hiking 15:00 [1] 1.2 km (12:30 / km)

....mostly the walk to the start for the NAOC Long...

Orienteering race 2:39:08 [2] 6.0 km (26:31 / km) +260m 21:48 / km

NAOC Long

Ginger ankle. Repeatedly lost map contact only to recover exact map contact and then spike the control - albeit after a significant time penalty. Finished thinking I had to be (essentially) dead last, but apparently beat 27 people while still stinking up the forest.

Walking/Hiking warm up/down 25:00 [1] 2.0 km (12:30 / km)

Warmup on the way to the starts for NAOC Middle. Time includes both the slog to the start and visiting the controls in the "Warmup area".

Orienteering race 1:19:56 intensity: (30:00 @2) + (49:56 @4) 3.9 mi (20:30 / mi)

NAOC Middle

Blowdowns caused me to move gingerly, reducing speed. Sadly, this didn't prevent me from never getting a feel for the map, resulting in time lost on seven different legs, including over 23 minutes on one leg (#13, where I turned too soon and then stopped too soon as well, getting very lost).

Cardio (Bike (video)) 16:47 [3]

Broken Spoke course. Rode hard to outpace my ghost. Was first in the world when I finished, but only 4th now as I log the race. (Season starts today!) Second all-time at the Y by 11 seconds. P:221; C:59.

Walking/Hiking warm up/down 20:00 [1]

Much less walking today (and I combined, so most of this is cool-down).

Orienteering 1:12:53 [3] 5.6 km (13:01 / km)

Green X course

Started running gingerly, but ankle felt more "weak" than "painful" for most of the race. Was dying on the way to #3 when Kean Williams caught me - although he started 2 minutes ahead of me. We both caught Pete Bundschuh near #4, but then Pete and I went high to #5 and Kean went low(?!) and we lost him. Pete slowly opened up on me and I lost contact early on the way to #8. Near #8, Kean caught me again and beat me to it as I drifted right. Kean caught me again at #10 and we went parallel to #11, but I missed left and he opened up. In the end, he crossed the finish line 46 seconds ahead of me. Once again, not a bad race considering all factors, but I was last in my age group. Oh well, now I have a goal for next weekend.
