Cutthroat with Brian R. and Lucas. Brian and Danny set up the ladder that had both of them in the top five and me at number 12. (No complaints about Lucas at #2 and the guy from Bradford at #1.) I don't really care about the ladder, but was taking umbrage. Having knocked off Danny, Monday, I viewed this a "message" meeting. Alas, Brian was going to have "one of those nights" anyway.
First match: trailed 4-12-6, but came back to lose 13-15-8
Second match: pulled ahead early and hung on to win 15-14-4
Third match: Lucas and I duked it out and I got the victory 15-11-3
Fourth match: Score was 5-9-0 when I accidentally served up a softball that Brian whiffed on. He got really upset (at himself) and left for the night. Lucas and I decided to hang on to finish the match and I got hot and won 15-11.
Here's the scoop. Lucas played well all night - not his best, but not badly at all - and I took 3 out of 4. I was moving well and seeing the court, but there is no doubt that he has made me a better player - to his (temporary, I am sure) detriment. He still has more skills, shots, and quickness than me, but I have finesse and craftiness to even it up. If we are both on, he wins, but if he lets up, the door is open. I am psyched!
