Cardio (Elliptical) 12:00 [3]

Random @ 17; just long enough to get the blood flowing before...

Weights 27:00 [3]

with a few sets of legs "off" since I was tired from the weekend and Phil was, too.
6 PM

Handball 40:00 [2]

Some singles, some doubles and occasionally I actually hit the ball. Time discounted, but I probably should have skipped the whole evening as my legs were leaden.

First game (singles with Steve): A furious comeback(!) had me lose 4-21.

Then Syed (novice) arrived and we played cutthroat. I still sucked, missing the ball entirely on multiple occasions even when it wasn't a tricky shot.

Second game: 7-21-5

At this point Steve apparently got bored because I got no better, score notwithstanding.

Third game: 21-10-3

Then things reasserted themselves.

Fourth game: 11-21-0

I can't recall having played that badly EVER. I was much worse that the score makes it look and that's pretty bad.

Running warm up/down 7:00 [2]

Warm-up for Polar Bear Series #4 (10km)

Running 57:27 [3] 10.0 km (5:45 / km)

Felt only okay after a long night dealing with out-of-town dances and car damage (connected - no damage to humans). Passed a few people in the first 80 yards, but spent the next six miles only being passed by folks. Felt like I was slightly improving as the race went on. There was apparently a person right on my heels for the first six miles; I could hear her, but refrained from looking back. She passed me with 0.5 miles to go, but I took her (and about four others who I hadn't seen before) in the final stretch. After the race she thanked me for setting "a great pace" and for allowing her to "draft".

The mileage markers were weird to say the least. It's a straight out-and-back course, but the turnaround was exactly at the three-mile mark. The other markers did NOT represent this. I think they put the turnaround at the 3 rather than at 3.1. Other folks said someone's GPS registered only 5.88 miles.

My splits: 9:42, 9:59, 9:27 (mostly uphill!), 7:04 (slightly downhill, and I believe only 0.8 miles), 9:31, and 11:41 (to finish - pace was 9:43)

Walking/Hiking 12:00 [1]

Cool down around town...
