Grape Stomper course. First goal was under 45, effectively achieved the moment I got the good bike; second goal was under 40, clearly doable as my PR was 39:32. Then as soon as I started, I noticed that the current Y seasonal record was 39:01, so the stretch goal was now 39 or better. Much like last Tuesday, I seemed to be behind pace a good bit, but this ride finishes up hill (except for the last 1/3 mile) so I was worried. In the end, I made it, but felt it. (I guess that's a good thing.) Top 15% overall; top 20% age group. Took back my #1 ranking at the Y (out of twelve.) P:228; C:58.

Vindicator Course. Got the bad bike, so my goals were "under 45", "under 43:32" (my time last year on the bad bike, "under 40" (not happening), and "under 39:18" (PR - also not happening. For most of the ride, I pushed, but was only at a "45 pace". Opened up a bit on the final downhill and beat last year's time. Top half both overall and age group. PR is still best all-time at the Y (out of seven); today's ride would only have been third... P:187; C:57.

Pyramid Mountain. Was originally hoping for another PR, but that dream was shattered when I was relegated to the "tough" bike. Was hoping merely to break 45 minutes and take the Y seasonal record (was 46:34). Pushed hard and made it, but it was indeed "tough". Top 30% overall; top 40% age group. Still second all-time (by over two minutes - and out of ten) at the Y. P:200; C:62.

Temple Ridge course. Goals were (at first) to beat last year's time (shouldn't be an issue as it was quite slow), break 45 minutes, and set a new PR (old was 41:59). Then I saw that the season leader was 40:50. 40:49 seemed a bit much, but I noticed that I was gaining about five seconds a mile on my ghost. Hmmm. Times 13.5 miles would be a 67 second improvement; could I find three more seconds. I went full puke-fest mode and with five miles to go, knew that I could do it if I could just "sustain". Didn't feel real sure until the last two minutes, but I got it by a good bit! Top 15% overall and age group. Took back the Y record (had been second) out of nine riders. P:235; C:57.

Cramped up badly (lower abs) in last set of rolling sit-ups. Oddly, it wasn't just me; the guy two over from me had the same problem, albeit at the very end of the set. Neither of us usually does this so it's hard to explain...

Ascension Course. First wanted to beat my ghost, but then got ambitious and hoped to break an hour; obviously failed at the latter. Opened up ten seconds on ghost in first two miles, then gave half of it back. Was afraid I'd be behind at five miles, but from then on, I kept opening up distance, ultimately coming in nearly two minutes ahead. Top 20% overall; top 25% age group, Still 1st, now by four minutes, all-time at the Y (out of 7.) P:218; C:58.

Savage Revenge course. Went out trying to beat my ghost and opened up almost two minutes on him before the downhill. He took back about 20 seconds from then in. Top 25% overall and age group. 2nd out of 4all time at the Y, almost five minutes off the pace. P:210; C:53.
