Quicksilver course

Got on the "slow" bike, so a PR was out of the question. I busted my butt as much as yesterday for 80% of the power and a real slow time. Lost my ghost out of the start, but wanted to break 20 minutes and used his pace to help guide me. Made it with a push at the end. An exhausting, hard-fought ride with less to show for it than usual. Actually, my worst time ever! Top 15% overall; top 25% age group; still hold the Y record, but this ride is tied for 5th (out of 24.) P:208; C:60

Farmer's Bluff course

Showed up for the MoveIt demo class, but it was cancelled and regular TotalTraining was over 50% done so got on the bike. Jumped 2 seconds ahead of my ghost and opened up on him on both hills. Just tried to stay ahead of him (to set a PR) and managed to do just that - had a 13 second lead at the end. Top 5% overall; top 10% age group. Still first (by a wider margin) at the Y - out of twenty-two riders. P:246; C:58.

Stump Puller course

Jumped ahead of my ghost out of the block and tried to hold him off for at least 2.5 miles (as was the case over the weekend). At that point, he had closed to 4 seconds back, but I pushed up the last hill and over to up the lead to 8. From there it was 7-10 to the finish line. All in all a good ride. Top 10% overall; top 15% age group (missed top 10% by seven seconds). Improved my all-time lead (out of 20) at the Y by eight seconds. P:244; C:58.

Sunday Afternoon course on Sunday Morning

Like yesterday, I stayed with my ghost for the first 2.5 miles and then he blitzed me. I closed a bit at the end to trail by 30 seconds at the end. Top 10% overall; top 15% age group. Still first out of 22 at the Y and this ride would have been first, also. P:229; C:56.

Note: The guy in second place all-time on this course got on the (left) bike while I was cooling down. After I walked a bit, I passed the bikes on my way out and he had switched to the right bike. Apparently, I am not the only one who thinks there is a significant difference between the bikes!

Pushed hard out of the gate, but could barely pace my ghost. He pushed past me for good between 2.5 and 3 miles and I "gave him up". Top 10% overall (missed top 5% by eleven seconds); top 10% age group. Still hold the Y record (out of 22) but today would have been second by three seconds.

My ghost blew past me out of the start and I was able to maintain contact for only about the first quarter mile. Kept pushing, though, and had a decent ride. Top 15% overall (missed top 10 by two seconds); top 20% age group. Still hold the record (out of 22) at the Y, but today would have put me in second - by thirteen seconds. P:221; C:57.

Stormy Hollow Course

My ghost passed me right out of the start, but I caught him for a while. He passed me for good about 1.75 miles in, but I mostly kept him in sight. Closed to 4 seconds back on the last hill, but he opened up almost 20 seconds by cresting ahead of my dying legs. Top 15% overall; top 20% age group. Still second at the Y; today would have been 3rd, 10 seconds out of 2nd, 1 second ahead of 4th. I did break last year's time. P:223; C:58.

Odyssey course

Had the easy (first) goal of breaking 30 minutes, but the more real goal of improving on the PR (25:15) or even breaking 25 minutes. Opened up over ten seconds on my ghost early so it seemed possible, but he closed to within three seconds before I found my energy (desire?) and pulled away again to take him by 34 seconds. Top 15% overall; top 20% age group. The funny thing is that the web site says that 25:15 wasn't my PR at all and that my 24:18 was my (and the Y's) all-time best. Interesting, 24:41 ties for 2nd all time (out of fourteen). P:225; C:58.
