Stump Puller course. My legs felt shot all night so I had low expectations this morning. Was able to keep up with my ghost for the first 1/3 of the course, but he pulled ahead quickly on the first downhill. I lost a lot, but was surprisingly competitive over the last 1/3. Lost to him by 47 seconds. Top 10% overall; top 15% age group. I still have the Y record and today's ride would have set it had I not already held it. P:219; C:57

Sunday Afternoon course. My ghost pulled ahead after two miles and I got panicked that I might not even get the season best ride locally (21:58) so I pressed extra hard and eventually caught the pace and the ghost and eventually set a PR by two seconds. Top 5% overall and top 10% age group; I guess the legs have rebounded a bit. Still the best at the Y (out of twenty.) P:240; C:63.

Raven's Roost course. My legs felt dead even before I got on the bike. I managed to keep pace with my ghost for only about 1/4 mile, ultimately losing by two minutes. Barely made top 20% overall; top 30% age group. Still hold #1 all-time at the Y (out of 21) but this ride would only have been good for 3rd. P:198; C:60.

Set up in the morning - including water; a bit of new trail "mapping" midday and pickup in the afternoon.

We brought in six gallons to the water stop, but when I went to pick it up, there were only five bottles; I was totally confused until I learned that when the meet director went there to get cups (we'd put out too many anyway) he realized that we had overstocked and he brought one bottle back. I actually preferred my mental image of a family group having just taken an entire gallon to drink on the trail...

Distance would have been shorter if I hadn't had to revisit the first three controls to fix a mistake and visit one that was on tomorrow's list to check for missing vetting flag (and it was a placement error - so it was a good thing I went!)

VERY HOT. Ten minutes after leaving the park, I hit a blinding thunderstorm and had to pull off the road until it abated.

Wicked Workout course - Played tag with my ghost for the first three miles, then "gave up the ghost" eventually losing by 45 seconds. Still, given how I felt before beginning, that is acceptable. Top 20% overall (just missed top 15) and age group (barely made it in). Still 3rd out of 13 all time at the Y although this ride would have been 5th. P:205; C:58.

Oh Mama course. Really weird thing - before I started, it said my last lap was 26:51, but that my personal best was 27:02. The web site now congratulates me on a personal best ride. The all-time stats list me at 26:51, though. Oh well. Top 20% overall; top 25% age group. Third out of ten at the Y about a minute off the pace. P:209; C:58.
