Cardio (Bike (video)) 17:43 [3] 5.3 mi (3:21 / mi)

Billy Goat Falls. Started strong and kept my ghost at bay for the whole time - albeit I don't know how... Missed top 10% overall by four seconds; missed top 15% age group by two seconds. Lept over three other riders to take 2nd all time at the Y, eight seconds out of fifth, but over two minutes behind first! P:213; C:61

Orienteering race 26:30 [4] 2.8 mi (9:28 / mi) +45m 9:01 / mi

NAOC Sprint

The smooth terrain allowed me to pick up the pace a bit, but so did everyone else so it mattered little. Did reduce the errors to two - both small - and it was overall my best race. Do wish there wasn't a two-hour wait to get back the maps, though.

Walking/Hiking 15:00 [1] 1.2 km (12:30 / km)

....mostly the walk to the start for the NAOC Long...

Orienteering race 2:39:08 [2] 6.0 km (26:31 / km) +260m 21:48 / km

NAOC Long

Ginger ankle. Repeatedly lost map contact only to recover exact map contact and then spike the control - albeit after a significant time penalty. Finished thinking I had to be (essentially) dead last, but apparently beat 27 people while still stinking up the forest.

Walking/Hiking warm up/down 25:00 [1] 2.0 km (12:30 / km)

Warmup on the way to the starts for NAOC Middle. Time includes both the slog to the start and visiting the controls in the "Warmup area".

Orienteering race 1:19:56 intensity: (30:00 @2) + (49:56 @4) 3.9 mi (20:30 / mi)

NAOC Middle

Blowdowns caused me to move gingerly, reducing speed. Sadly, this didn't prevent me from never getting a feel for the map, resulting in time lost on seven different legs, including over 23 minutes on one leg (#13, where I turned too soon and then stopped too soon as well, getting very lost).

Cardio (Bike (video)) 16:47 [3]

Broken Spoke course. Rode hard to outpace my ghost. Was first in the world when I finished, but only 4th now as I log the race. (Season starts today!) Second all-time at the Y by 11 seconds. P:221; C:59.

Walking/Hiking warm up/down 20:00 [1]

Much less walking today (and I combined, so most of this is cool-down).

Orienteering 1:12:53 [3] 5.6 km (13:01 / km)

Green X course

Started running gingerly, but ankle felt more "weak" than "painful" for most of the race. Was dying on the way to #3 when Kean Williams caught me - although he started 2 minutes ahead of me. We both caught Pete Bundschuh near #4, but then Pete and I went high to #5 and Kean went low(?!) and we lost him. Pete slowly opened up on me and I lost contact early on the way to #8. Near #8, Kean caught me again and beat me to it as I drifted right. Kean caught me again at #10 and we went parallel to #11, but I missed left and he opened up. In the end, he crossed the finish line 46 seconds ahead of me. Once again, not a bad race considering all factors, but I was last in my age group. Oh well, now I have a goal for next weekend.

Walking/Hiking warm up/down 45:00 [1]

To/From registration, shelter, and start. Over 3 km with climb.

Orienteering 1:19:37 [3] 5.7 km (13:58 / km)

Green X course.

Caught Mike Lyons at #1 (he started 4 minutes earlier) and shook him at #3. Misread the clue description and gave it all back at #4 (30 second error). Left him behind at #5. Bobbled #9 and lost lots of time in crap during the first half of 9-10, but also bobble #10. Sprained ankle fairly thoroughly most of the way to #12 and limped much of the rest of the way. Not a bad run considering my lack of conditioning and the fact that the last time I searched for controls "on the clock" was in November 2015!

Cardio (Bike (video)) 16:43 [3] 5.4 mi (3:06 / mi)

Moody Ambush course. Flirted with my ghost for the first 1/4 mile and then realized that the season record for my Y was only twelve seconds off my PR. Pushed harder and it began to pay off. Ultimately improved PR by 37 seconds. Top 10% overall; top 15% age group. Improved to second all time at the Y (from third), but am still 44 seconds off the pace (to the guy who is only sometimes here...) P: 223; C:59.

Cardio (Bike (video)) 18:58 [3] 6.0 mi (3:10 / mi)

Ironhorse course. Flirted with my ghost for the first minute, then pulled away to set only time on course for this season. New PR. Top 10% overall; top 15% age group. Moved from 3rd to 2nd all time at the Y - off by sixteen seconds. P:222; C:60.

Cardio (Bike (video)) 20:00 [3]

Downhill Drama (Tactics) course. I was rather un-tactical and scored 106,607 points - a really weak total. Usual problem determining how bad based on small sample size. Hold the Y record by virtue of being the only competitor. P:133; C:50.

Pirates Cove dragon hunting (speed) 184,579 points. Surprisingly mellow but I hate that anyway. Too few people to draw any conclusions, but no power or heart rate. Did beat my local rival on this course. P:98; C:40

Cardio (Bike (video)) 18:37 [3] 6.3 mi (2:57 / mi)

Quicksilver course. Saw my ghost for the first fifteen seconds and then slowly and steadily pulled away. Was originally worried that the season champ at the Y looked, good, but my PR was better and I beat that by fifty seconds in the end. Top 10% overall; top 15% age group, but missed top 10% by only three seconds. Took the Y record by five seconds (previously held second place), passing a nemesis. P:238; C:58.

Cardio warm up/down 10:00 [1]

Walking/Hiking warm up/down 13:00 [2]

Again, some running at the end due to time constraints.

Cardio (Bike (video)) 21:19 [3] 6.9 mi (3:05 / mi)

Farmer's Bluff course. Dropped by my ghost about 0.1 miles in. Fought on and only lost by 54 seconds. Top 10% overall; top 15% age group. Still own the best time (out of nineteen) at the Y, but this ride would have only been second. P:217; C:56

Cardio warm up/down 3:00 [1]

Walking/Hiking 13:00 [2] 1.0 mi (13:00 / mi)

Ran over half of the "cool down" due to time pressure.
